American Philosophical Society Accepting Application From Doctoral Students for Field Studies

The promotes useful knowledge in the sciences and humanities through excellence in scholarly research, professional meetings, publications, library resources, and community outreach.

Through its Lewis and Clark Fund, the society will award grants of up to $5,000 for the collection of specimens and data and to provide the imaginative stimulus that accompanies direct observation. The program supports projects from disciplines with a large dependence on field studies, including but not limited to archeology, anthropology, biology, ecology, geography, geology, linguistics, paleontology, and population genetics.

To be eligible, applicants must be a doctoral student; postdoctoral fellows, master's degree candidates, and undergraduates are not eligible. In addition, applicants must be a citizen or resident of the United States.
