PubHub

PubHub

Mission:
To make foundation-sponsored research and reports widely accessible through a free, searchable collection of links covering the full scope of U.S. philanthropic activity.

Background:
Launched by the Foundation Center in 2004, PubHub is a searchable catalog of more than three thousand annotated links to research reports, case studies, issue briefs, literature reviews, and annual reports published and/or funded by U.S. foundations. Updated daily, PubHub provides access to the latest publications on a broad spectrum of specific issues, including arts and culture, civil society, community improvement/development, health, and philanthropy/voluntarism.

Outstanding Web Features:
The PubHub application makes foundation-sponsored publications easily accessible through user-friendly browse and keyword-search options. Visitors can browse reports by subject, publication year, organization, and/or publication type. Each listing includes a brief abstract and a link to an online version of the report on the publisher's site (typically a foundation or nonprofit). Visitors to PubHub can also view a selection of reports on a featured topic, sign up to receive e-mail alerts or an RSS feed of recently added reports, and share reports via e-mail or popular social bookmarking tools (Delicious, Digg, Reddit, Stumbleupon, and Google). To ensure the long-term preservation of reports of interest to the field, the Foundation Center is also collaborating with Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) on FOLIO (Foundation Literature Online), a permanent digital repository of foundation-sponsored reports. Housed on IUPUI servers, FOLIO aims to provide free access to permanently archived copies of the vast majority of reports catalogued in PubHub.
