The has announced a $10 million gift from alumnus Lynn Pippenger in support of scholarships and student recruitment efforts at its at the.
The gift will enable the university to boost the number of students working to become certified public accountants, certified internal auditors, or certified management auditors. In addition, the gift will provide scholarships for accounting majors, stipends for students who find internships, and funds to improve the school's infrastructure.
Pippenger began her career in 1969 as a payroll clerk for the brokerage firm. Before her retirement in 2012, she also served as the firm’s chief financial officer, treasurer, and senior vice president. During her years with the firm, she created its human resources department, launched an internal educational program now known as , helped establish the company's information technology department, and was the architect of much of the company's original technology platfrom. Pippenger, who earned a degree from the school’s accounting program in 1988, made her first gift to USF in 1986 in support of student scholarships.
