The has announced gifts totaling $3.5 million toward construction of a new hospital on its Kansas City campus.
Awarded as part of a $1.2 billion capital campaign, the gifts include $1 million from local philanthropists Deanna and Greg Graves and $2.5 million from the — the largest gift ever made by the company-sponsored foundation. When completed, the 92-bed facility will be home to approximately a hundred physicians, including the hospital's neurosciences and surgical oncology units, and provide roughly six hundred patient care jobs in specialized surgical and support areas.
"This community must embrace its academic medical center and help it provide advanced medicine for patients," said Greg Graves, chairman and CEO of industrial services firm and vice chair of the hospital's authority board. "Deanna and I are thrilled to get things started, but we will need many other community leaders and organizations to step up to make this happen."
