Tyson Foods, Family Donate $15 Million for Children's Hospital

and the family of board chair John H. Tyson have announced a $15 million gift for construction of a children's hospital in northwest Arkansas.

The  gift, the largest ever to , will establish the Tyson Family Tower at , a new facility on thirty-seven acres of land in Springdale donated by Robin and Gary George, Cathy and David Evans, and their families. Scheduled to open in 2018, the 230,000-square-foot facility will provide in-patient beds, emergency care, diagnostic services, and clinical space. With the Tysons' gift, a total of $45.5 million now has been pledged toward construction of the hospital, which is projected to cost $427.7 million.

"This gift will transform health care for children in the region and create a wellness destination for families for generations to come," said Marcy Doderer, president and CEO of Arkansas Children's. "To have the Tyson name attached to this project demonstrates what an impact this facility will have on the area. It's a testament to the outstanding legacy of this remarkable family and company."
