The Thrive Fund, a component fund of the , has announced grants totaling $3.1 million to nonprofit arts organizations in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The grants, the first announced publicly by the fund since it was established by former chairman Hugh McColl in 2012, include $2 million in operating support for the . McColl created Thrive to support the symphony, which has received $2 million from the fund in each of the last two years. Other grant recipients include the , , the , the , , and the .
"I've always believed that to have a great city, you need great arts," said McColl. "More importantly, we have great leadership in the business community, and they are the ones to thank."
