The has announced it will begin a strategic review process in 2016 to ensure that it continues to address the region’s most pressing community needs.
Since 2009, SVCF has awarded more than $87 million in grants to more than four hundred nonprofit organizations in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties through its discretionary grantmaking program. The foundation announced its five current grantmaking strategies in 2008 after extensive input from the community. At the time, the foundation also announced that it would make larger grants over longer periods of time and that it would review its strategies after five years and conduct a more comprehensive review after seven years. The initial review was completed in 2013, and the comprehensive review will be carried out between 2016 and 2018. There will be no changes to the foundation's grantmaking program in 2016.
"SVCF will engage the community in the review of its strategies," said Erica Wood, SVCF's chief community impact officer. "Any changes to the grantmaking strategies will require the approval of SVCF’s board of directors."
