Sumner M. Redstone Gives Boston University Law School $18 Million for New Building

The new five-story classroom building will be named after Redstone, who taught at the law school for three years beginning in 1982, including the school's first course in entertainment law. He received an honorary degree from the school in 1994 and sponsors the 's .

Redstone, a 1947 graduate of Harvard Law School, grew up in Boston's West End and, after working for the U.S. Department of Justice and in private practice, built a media empire that now includes Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks Animation.

"The Boston University School of Law is a hub of legal scholarship and academic achievement," said Redstone. "The study that takes place within its walls is enormous. It's my hope that this beautiful building, and I must say it's got a pretty good name, will serve students for many years to come."
