The has received gifts of $1 million each from local entrepreneurs Holly Hunt and Neil Bluhm, reports.
The gifts will establish the Holly Hunt Graduate Merit Fellowships and the Bluhm Family Scholarship Fund, which will provide need-based scholarships to graduate and undergraduate students. Hunt, who has served on the school's board of governors since 1994, is founder and CEO of Holly Hunt Enterprises, an interior design firm and furnishings distributor that was acquired by Knoll last year for $95 million. Bluhm, a life trustee at the school, is a real estate magnate and casino owner.
"Their generosity will prove critical in helping the school attract and retain the talented young artists and designers whose work will shape our culture for years to come," SAIC president Walter Massey said in a letter to board members. "We are excited to see what the scholarship recipients do in the future with the support of these two wonderful gifts."
