The has announced grants totaling more than $1.2 million to local nonprofit organizations.
The foundation awarded sixty-eight grants totaling more than $1.1 million through its program and four grants totaling $110,045 through its program, which is focused on cancer, diabetes, and heart disease.
The foundation's 2013 grantees include the , which was awarded more than $28,000 in support of a transitional living program for homeless people with HIV/AIDS; the , which received $15,000 to expand access to inpatient psychiatric care at its facility; , which was awarded $10,000 for a mentoring program; and , which received $8,000 in support of its sober living program.
"This is a very competitive grant process among many organizations doing great work in the community," said San Antonio Area Foundation program officer Lydia Saldaña. "We work hard to honor the priorities of donors who have funds at the...foundation while addressing a broad range of needs in the community."
