The Anchorage-based Rasmuson Foundation has announced forty-five grants totaling nearly $1.1 million awarded through its arts and culture initiatives and recently revamped and programs.
Several recipients of Tier 1 and Tier 2 grants, which are designed to support capital and strategic projects, respectively, are engaged in projects working to document and/or preserve Alaska history and culture. They include the , the , the , the Hope and Sunrise Historical Society, and the .
Seven arts and culture organizations, including the and the , received capacity-building grants from the foundation's . And the foundation provided support through its for appearances by performance artist in Anchorage and by Cajun and Afrobeat musicians in the communities of Ketchikan and Haines.
In addition, the foundation awarded $500,000 to the to continue its support for safety-net organizations serving Alaskans most in need of food and shelter.
