Public Welfare Foundation Announces New Grantmaking Focus

The in Washington, D.C., has announced the creation of a new grants focus aimed at advancing issues related to race, redemption, and restoration, which cut across its long-established core programs in criminal justice, youth justice, and worker's rights.

According to the Department of Justice, approximately ten thousand people are released from America's state and federal prisons every week, while $80 billion is spent nationwide each year on the direct costs of incarceration.

To combat and help reverse those trends, over the next twelve months the foundation's program will award time-limited grants to help catalyze and replicate innovative work in the field.
