The McCormick Foundation has announced the appointment of PHILIP ZEPEDA as director of communications. Zepeda has held senior communications roles at several large national nonprofits, including Feeding America, where he oversaw relief efforts during Hurricane Katrina, and the American Red Cross, where he coordinated communications teams on more than fifty national disaster assignments, including the 9/11 attacks.
The McKnight Foundation has announced the appointment of JONI CHACICH as human resources generalist. Chacich, a 2012 graduate of the Federal Outreach Leadership program and most recently a human resources technician for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, previously served in various human resources and administrative roles at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The Kansas Health Foundation has announced the election of JEFFREY L. JACK to its board. Jack, a Labette County District Court Judge, has worked in private law practice, served multiple terms in the Kansas House of Representatives, and was active for twenty years with the U.S. Army Reserve and Kansas Army National Guard. He also serves in an advisory capacity for several local and state organizations, including the Kansas Judicial Council, Labette Community College, the Juvenile Justice Citizens Advisory Board, and Labette County Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
In other news, the Council on Foundations has announced the appointments of JESSE SALAZAR as vice president of communications and VICENTE RODRIGUEZ as vice president of member experience. Salazar, most recently vice president of government relations and policy for the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, previously served as a legislative analyst at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Earlier, he ran the Lehigh Valley Office of Sen. Robert P. Casey, Jr. (D-PA) and was the senator's special assistant on Latino and LGBT affairs, and served as Pennsylvania state commissioner of Latino affairs. Rodriguez, most recently senior program planning advisor at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, also served as vice president of education, training, and meetings at the National Association for Homecare and Hospice, managing director of United Cerebral Palsy Associates, and senior program officer for Betah Associates.
