Kirshner, an award-winning astrophysicist, has held faculty and chairmanship positions at Harvard and the University of Michigan and served as president of the American Astronomical Society. Fineberg. "His understanding of the needs of researchers and their institutions will help the foundation best use our resources to accelerate discovery."
The has announced the appointments of BAO-LONG CHU as program officer for arts and culture and TONYEL SIMON as program officer for education and human services. Chu, most recently associate director of Writers in the Schools, began his career as a teaching assistant at the University of Houston. Simon, most recently executive director of DiscoverU, served previously as director of teacher recruitment on Teach For America's national team.
The has named ANGELIQUE POWER as director of its culture program and GEORGE CHEUNG as director of its democracy program; Power and Cheung served the foundation previously as senior program officers. Before joining the foundation, Power was director of communications and community engagement at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago and a senior community relations manager for Target Corporation. She currently serves on the board of Grantmakers in the Arts. Cheung, previously executive director at the Win/Win Network, is also founder and executive director of Equal Rights Washington. He currently works as an independent public affairs consultant and is an active member of the Funders Committee for Civic Participation and the Donors Forum. Earlier, he worked in civil rights law enforcement for state agencies in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Washington.
The has announced the appointment of JAMIE CORTEZ as program officer for arts and culture. Cortez, a multimedia artist, also has worked as a grantmaker, educator, and activist in a career that has spanned more than twenty years in the arts. Organizations he has worked for include the San Francisco Foundation, the San Francisco Arts Commission, Galeria de la Raza, and the AIDS Project Los Angeles. The foundation noted that Cortez's appointment rounds out an arts team focused on strengthening leadership, advocacy, and risk-taking in the field.

Pennoyer, a senior advisor to Brittany Capital Group, earlier was a partner and president at private equity firm Benedetto, Gartland & Company, where he worked for twenty years. He is, in addition, a trustee of the Hudson Institute and the New-York Historical Society and president of the Achelis and Bodman Foundations. He will succeed HENRY GOOSS, who has led the foundation's board since 2009.

Friedman, a leader in the field of economic development innovation, is founder and general counsel of the Corporation for Enterprise Development. His recent accomplishments include the development of the 1:1 Fund, the Initiative to Balance America's Asset Budget, and the New Entrepreneur Tax Credit Initiative. He currently serves on the boards of Ecotrust, the Rosenberg Foundation, and the Friedman Family Foundation and is a former board member of Levi Strauss & Co.

Jewell-Sherman, professor of practice at Harvard's Graduate School of Education, is also director of the university's Urban Superintendents Program, of which she is a graduate. Previously, she was an acclaimed superintendent of the public school system in Richmond, Virginia, where she began her career as a teacher in 1981.

Kiphart is a senior advisor and executive at Chicago-based investment firm William Blair & Company, where he has worked since 1965. Kiphart also chairs the Ranir Corporation, Lime Energy, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and Columbia College and serves on the boards of Lurie Children's Hospital, the Afrimax Group, Emmi Solutions, Trustwave Corporation, and Wilshire Media Group. The has announced the appointment of WILL SHAFROTH as president and CEO. Shafroth, most recently counselor for America's Great Outdoors, an initiative of the United States Department of the Interior, previously served as acting assistant secretary and principal deputy assistant secretary for the department's fish and wildlife and parks divisions. In his time at Interior, Shafroth worked with the National Park Service on a variety of budget, policy, and program initiatives, represented Interior Secretary Ken Salazar on NPF's board, and served as acting commissioner of the national parks of New York harbor. Earlier, Shafroth was executive director of the Great Outdoors Colorado Trust Fund and the Colorado Conservation Trust and chaired the Land Trust Alliance and Resources Legacy Fund.
has announced the appointment of PHILIP KILBRIDGE as president and CEO, effective August 11. Kilbridge comes to the organization from Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco, where he has served as CEO since 2005. During the past decade, Kilbridge has helped increase that organization's budget from $800,000 to more than $16 million, led a team of more than fifty staff, twenty AmeriCorps volunteers, and seventy-five hundred regional volunteers, and maintained the organization's four-star rating from Charity Navigator.

Ressler, who has served on LACMA's board since 2005, is co-founder of asset management firm Ares Management and serves on the boards of several nonprofit institutions, including Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Georgetown University, and the Alliance for College-Ready Public Schools. Wynn, a prominent philanthropist and crusader for children's welfare and the arts, joined LACMA's board in 2011, co-founded and served as director of Wynn Resorts from 2000 through April 2015, and founded and directed Mirage Resorts from 1976 to 2000. Ressler and Wynn will succeed co-chairs ANDY GORDON, who was first elected to the LACMA board in 2007, and TERRY SEMEL, who was elected in 2009.
