New York Community Trust Awards Grants Totaling $9.1 Million

The has announced grants totaling $9.1 million to seventy-nine organizations in the areas of the arts, community development, education, the environment, health, and workforce development.

Recipients include , which was awarded $100,000 to build, in partnership with and , a training hub for dancers who are working with survivors of domestic violence and other hardships; the , which will receive $65,000 to advocate for preserving industrial clusters that generate jobs in low-income neighborhoods; and the , which was awarded $75,000 to help middle school students use technology to improve math skills in fifteen New York City schools.

The foundation also awarded grants of $90,000 to to create and test technology tools for non-lawyers who are helping poor New Yorkers cope with civil legal problems; $85,000 to the to expand national markets for crops grown without chemical pesticides; and $100,000 to the to add primary care to a mental health treatment program for formerly homeless, mentally ill adults.
