The Minneapolis-based has announced first-quarter grants totaling $25.3 million in support of national and international nonprofit organizations.
The grants include more than $2.6 million awarded through the foundation's Education program, which supports efforts to close opportunity gaps by engaging families and supporting diverse, effective educators. The two-year grants include $2 million to , an intermediary organization that represents a coalition of more than eighty schools, foundations, and community leaders; $300,000 to , a network of public charter schools serving K-12 students in south Minneapolis; and $330,000 to , a policy and advocacy organization.
"Every child deserves access to high-quality and culturally responsive schools," said McKnight board chair Debby Landesman. "We believe our strategies will help create conditions for student success."
Other recipients include , which was awarded $100,000 in general operating support; the , which will receive $75,000 for its School Leadership Project; the , which was awarded $250,000 in support of its efforts to improve water quality in the Mississippi River Basin; and the , which will receive $400,000 for its Regional Research, Training, and Practices Program.
