Denver-based has announced a $7 million pledge from cable television entrepreneur John C. Malone and the .
The investment, which comprises a gift of $4 million over two years and $3 million in matching funds, will support leadership development, performance-based compensation, and professional development for DSST employees. In 2011, Malone, chairman of Liberty Media, gave $7 million to DSST schools in support of four new campuses.
DSST Public Schools operates seven STEM charter schools within the Denver Public School system serving more than twenty-eight hundred students and is developing four additional schools that, when open, will more than double its total enrollment.
"We are deeply grateful and humbled by the generosity of the Malone Family and their commitment to public education in Colorado," said DSST Public Schools CEO Bill Kurtz. "This investment in DSST will ensure that over sixty-five hundred public schools students in Denver get a world-class education, regardless of background."
