Iowa West Foundation Announces $3.8 Million in First-Quarter Grants

The in Council Bluffs has announced grants totaling $3.8 million to thirty-one nonprofits and government agencies.

First-quarter grant recipients include the , which was awarded $1.1 million in support of preschool programs in Pottawattamie County school districts; the , which received $1 million for cancer education programs at the university's in Omaha; the City of Griswold, which was awarded $2,500 for public library renovations; and of Clarinda, which received $2,000 to upgrade its facility for disabled clients in need of health services.

The foundation makes grants throughout southwest Iowa and eastern Nebraska using funds from investment earnings and the Iowa West Racing Association, which receives contracted fees from casino operators Ameristar and Harrah's.
