Hoag Hospital Receives $15 Million for Neurosciences Institute

has announced a $15 million gift from Richard Pickup and the Pickup Family Foundation in support of the at in Newport Beach, California.

Established in 2007, the institute has expanded its programming over the past decade focused on the causes of and treatments for a range of neuroscience-based medical conditions, from cognitive disorders, stroke, and epilepsy, to back and spine issues, to headache studies and treatment, to movement disorders. According to the foundation, the institute offers the county's only MR/PET imager, Perfexion gamma knife stereotactic brain tumor treatment, and surgical procedures using augmented-reality. In recognition of the gift, the institute will be renamed the Pickup Family Neurosciences Institute.
