Google to Match Up to $5.5 Million for Refugee Assistance

has announced that it will match donations up to €5 million ($5.5 million) in support of humanitarian relief for refugees and migrants in Europe.

will be matched on a one-to-one basis and directed to and be distributed to four nongovernmental organizations working to deliver assistance including shelter, food and water, and medical care to refugees and migrants — , the , and the . Google will cover all processing fees so 100 percent of the donations go to the recipient organizations. The matching funds are in addition to donations totaling €1 million ($1.1 million) Google made to several humanitarian organizations earlier this month.

"When faced with the kind of crisis currently unfolding in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, we all want to do something to help," Google said on its website. "We've identified organizations doing outstanding work on the frontlines and want to make it easy for our users to donate and support their efforts."
