George Gund Foundation Awards $14.2 Million in Grants

The Cleveland-based has announced grants totaling $14.2 million in support of nonprofit organizations in Ohio.

Awarded at the board's final meeting of 2018, the grants include renewed support of $4 million over three years to the , a funder collaborative working to improve the economic competitiveness of the region, with a focus on racial inequities and the barriers to opportunity they create; $300,000 to the for construction of a LEED-certified facility in the ; and $150,000 to the in support of its efforts to advance lasting reforms that help make Ohio's criminal justice system smarter, smaller, and more just.

Other grants include $45,500 to in support of its , which provides a welcoming space for adult poets and writers of color looking to start a new project or complete a current project; $75,000 to in support of its efforts to help high school graduates succeed in college; and $30,000 to the for a year-long forum series that will celebrate Cleveland's historic role in the creation of the modern environmental movement and explore current environmental issues such as the restoration of the Great Lakes.
