Bangalore-based has announced an investment of INR 111 million (approximately $2 million) from the to scale its innovative distance-learning solution to underserved schools in India.
To address the shortage of competent teachers in millions of Indian schools, EDUTEL will broadcast highly customized content delivered by qualified teachers to multiple classrooms in government-run and low-fee private schools. EDUTEL's satellite-based, two-way-communication-enabled infrastructure leverages a network of satellites and ground studios, which the Indian government makes available at a low cost for the purpose of education and college entrance exam prep.
