, a website where public school teachers can post funding requests for classroom materials and projects, has announced a donation of $29 million in cryptocurrency from enterprise blockchain solutions provider and its executives to fund every request on the site as of March 27.
The donation will fulfill 35,647 requests from 28,210 teachers in every state for books, classroom supplies, technology, field trips, and other resources. The largest donation in the organization's eighteen-year history is thought to be the largest donation to date of a digital asset to a single nonprofit. Ripple made the contribution in its currency, which was converted to U.S. dollars to fund the requests.
Since 2000, DonorsChoose.org has helped more than four hundred thousand public school teachers across the U.S. raise funds for classroom projects and supplies.
"At Ripple, we care about giving back to our community, and we collectively value the importance of quality education in developing the next generation of leaders," said Monica Long, the company's senior vice president of marketing. "DonorsChoose.org's track record speaks for itself — they are highly effective at improving the quality of education and the experience of teachers and students across America. We're proud to work with them to support classroom needs across the country."
