Dodge Foundation Awards $3.8 Million to New Jersey Nonprofits

The in Morristown, New Jersey, has announced grants totaling nearly $3.8 million to nonprofit organizations in the state working in the areas of the arts, education, the environment, and community improvement.

The foundation awarded forty-five grants totaling nearly $1.6 million through its Arts focus area, including a grant of $230,000 to , which works to foster creativity, cross-sector collaboration, and inclusion as a way to build thriving, equitable communities. Through its Education focus area, the foundation awarded thirty-two grants totaling nearly $1.2 million, including a grant of $140,000 to in support of that organization's work to advance arts education for all children in the state. Through its "Informed Communities" focus area, the foundation awarded five grants totaling $480,000, including a grant of $145,000 to the in support of its project, and a grant of $100,000 to the in support of its work to grow, support, and strengthen the news and information ecosystem in the state for the benefit of residents. And through its Environment focus area, the foundation awarded two grants totaling $375,000, including $370,000 to in support of its work to advance sustainability and local action in New Jersey communities through certification programs and strategic initiatives and partnerships.

The foundation also announced that Christopher (Kim) J. Elliman has stepped down as board chair after serving in that role since 2010 but will continue to serve as a trustee, and that Preston Pinkett III, chair and CEO of City National Bank, will succeed Elliman as chair. "On the heels of completing a bold new strategic plan and as we search for a new leader to replace president and CEO Chris Daggett, who recently announced his retirement, this is an exciting time for the Dodge Foundation," said Pinkett. "The board looks forward to guiding Dodge in the implementation of our vision for an equitable New Jersey and Dodge's role in achieving it."
