The has announced a $3.75 million gift from the in support of its .
The gift will support the popular series of concerts, which are performed in formal venues across the metropolitan Detroit area as well as in less traditional settings such as schools, hospitals, libraries, and places of worship, over the next three years. In recognition of the gift, DSO will rename the series, which has regularly sold out shows since its inception in 2011, the William Davidson Neighborhood Concert Series.
Davidson, a longtime supporter of the orchestra and president and CEO of ., died in 2009.
"Bill Davidson had a passion for connecting communities through the presentation of DSO concerts, using us as eager ambassadors for all that is great about the City of Detroit," said DSP president and CEO Anne Parsons. "He inspired us to create the Neighborhood Concert Series as a way to increase our reach and provide greater accessibility. We thank everyone at the William Davidson Foundation for their outstanding and continuous support and for allowing us to recognize Bill by renaming the series in his honor."
