The New York City-based has announced grants totaling $5.4 million to establish funds at ten medical schools in support of efforts to retain early-career clinical scientists.
Awarded through the foundation's new program, each school will receive $540,000 over five years to provide stronger institutional support for early-career physician scientists. Schools receiving grants will use them to award flexible funds to faculty members that complement and sustain their productivity on clinical research projects, providing physician scientists with the extra personnel, services, and/or supplies they may need to continue their work while managing outside care-giving responsibilities. The foundation anticipates the program will provide career-building support to approximately one hundred physician scientists over five years.
