DDCF Awards $3.6 Million for NEFA's National Dance Project

The has announced a two-year renewal grant of more than $3.6 million from the in support of its .

The grant will support program design changes to NDP, including an increase in the number of Production Grants to choreographers and dance companies; a ramping up of professional development for first-time artist grantees; and the piloting of a fund that will provide supplementary grants to artists with a strong commitment to community engagement. Building on extensive program and field research, as outlined in its 2016 report , the new initiatives also will include the awarding of additional Presentation Grants for NDP-funded works with high touring demand and in support of dance presenters and artists in regions with limited access to dance and resources.

"NEFA's National Dance Project is a key national funding stream for supporting the creation and presentation of new dance works across the country," said Maurine Knighton, DDCF's director for the arts.
