The in New York City has announced grants totaling more than $2.2 million to nine national arts organizations.
Awarded through the foundation's Core Support for National Organization's program, the grants will bolster the infrastructure of professional nonprofit dance, jazz, and theatre fields and improve conditions for performing artists across the country. The grants include $470,000 each to and the ; $360,500 to the ; and $250,000 to . The foundation also awarded $220,000 to ; $200,000 to the in New Orleans; $150,000 to in New York City; $121,980 to the Emerson College Center for the Theater Commons; and $26,000 to the .
"While we often fund new projects or activities, our Core Support initiative recognizes the irreplaceable value of the ongoing programs and services these organizations provide, such as leadership training, conferences, publications or research," said Ben Cameron, DDCF program director for the arts. "Grants to these national organizations ultimately contribute to the better health of dance companies, theatre companies, jazz ensembles and presenters throughout the country. We are delighted to support these nine important organizations through two-year grants designed to support both short- and long-term needs."
