Council on Foundations Announces 2014 Philanthropy Award Winners

The has announced the 2014 recipients of its Distinguished Service Award and Robert W. Scrivner Award for Creative Grantmaking.

Shelley Trott, director of arts strategy and ventures at the San Francisco-based , will receive the Scrivner Award for Creative Grantmaking at the council's annual conference in Washington, D.C., in October. As creator of the Rainin Foundation's program has worked to foster a dynamic learning environment for arts organizations in the Bay Area and helping them build their capacity during critical transitions. She also helped establish (CAST), which assists San Francisco arts organizations to secure affordable and permanent space.

"By advancing the presence of art in innovative ways, Shelley is providing meaningful change in her community and encouraging ingenuity across the field," said CoF president and CEO Vikki Spruill in announcing the award.

Darcy Oman, longtime president and CEO of the , was recognized with the Distinguished Service Award, which honors individuals who embody the intellect, integrity, leadership, and accomplishments that define excellence in the field of philanthropy. Since becoming CEO of the community foundation in 1985, Oman has led numerous key initiatives, including the ; the , which recognizes and supports school-based leadership at the principal level; and the .
