Baltimore-based has announced a $36 million contribution to its from the to support efforts to improve the quality of life in communities where Constellation operates. In addition, Constellation will begin donating at least 1 percent of its annual operating income to support charitable organizations and causes.
Made as part of a recently completed joint venture agreement between Constellation and EDF, the contribution will enable the foundation to provide greater support to nonprofits working in the areas of energy, education, economic growth, and the environment. Recently, the foundation provided $1 million to the to establish the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company Heating System Fund, $300,000 to the initiative to plant a thousand trees in the city, and additional grants to the , , and .
Constellation also operates active employee volunteer and contribution programs that donate some 48,000 volunteer hours each year and support organizations such as the , the , and the Great Kids farm.
