Commitments Totaling $715 Million Announced at CGI America

More than a hundred totaling $715 million were announced during the fourth annual meeting of the in Denver, which concluded on Wednesday.  

Aimed at addressing educational disparities, increasing job opportunities, and revitalizing communities around the country, the commitments include a collaboration of , the , , and to help close the "word gap" for disadvantaged children by promoting reading and singing to infants and young children and providing parents with literacy tools and resources during pediatric visits. Other commitments include a pledge by , in partnership with , to expand a green job skills training program for Native Americans; a $30 million investment by the and its partners to raise capital from citizen-investors to fund neighborhood revitalization efforts and small business development; and a pledge by the to scale its mentoring and workforce development program, , and expand or launch partnerships with , , and to expand career opportunities for youth and women.

According to CGI, the commitments, when fully implemented, are expected to create or fill more than 40,000 jobs; provide $215 million in new capital as well as non-monetary assistance to small and midsize enterprises; expand access to capital and financial services for more than 36,000 individuals; provide access to STEM education opportunities for more than 40,000 students and mentoring to more than 30,000 youth; and invest nearly $3.6 million in green initiatives.
