The has announced grants totaling nearly $2.6 million to Boston-area nonprofits.
The fourth-quarter grants include $1.7 million in single and multiyear grants to twenty-five nonprofits that will be paid out beginning in January. The foundation also awarded $605,000 in single-year grants to an additional twenty-two additional nonprofits, as well as $286,335 in grants through other programs.
The two largest awards include a general operating support grant of $250,000 over two years to and a grant of $200,000 over two years to in support of its efforts to expand to other schools in Massachusetts. In addition, the foundation awarded a grant of $175,000 over two years to the , which works to diversify and strengthen the talent pipeline for the nonprofit sector, and a grant of $70,000 to , a food-business incubator that has successfully launched a number of minority- and women-led local food startups.
"With this round of grants, the Boston Foundation reaffirms its commitment to the power of youth development programs both in and after school, with grants to two organizations for which we were there at the beginning, Playworks and Boston After School and Beyond," said Boston Foundation president and CEO Paul S. Grogan. "In addition, we continue our focus on organizations creating jobs and bringing entrepreneurship opportunities to underserved Boston neighborhoods."
