Boniface Foundation Awards $18 Million to Mercy Hospital South

The in Olivette, Missouri, has announced an $18 million gift to in St. Louis for a major renovation of the hospital's labor and delivery unit.

To address the space and privacy concerns of new mothers, the gift will support the creation of fourteen labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum rooms as well as new waiting rooms. The rebuilt unit will feature an eight-bed level-two neonatal intensive care unit, four triage rooms, renovated operating rooms for cesarean sections, a relocated perinatal center, and additional space for expansion. Construction is slated to begin later this year and is expected to be completed by 2021.

"We were aware that Mercy Hospital South was committed to making improvements in the mother/baby service, and Boniface Foundation is delighted to step up with the necessary funding to create the new space," said Boniface Foundation board chair Win Reed. "Our hope is that moms, babies, and families will find the new space to be inviting and comforting."
