Established in 2013 as part of a $25 million partnership between the and foundations, the annual prize is designed to bridge the gap between young investigators, academics, nonprofits, investors, and the biotech and pharmaceutical industries. This year's prize winners will each receive $200,000 per year for up to three years to enable them to pursue cutting-edge research at a stage in their research when traditional funding is lacking.
The 2017 cohort of Pershing Square Sohn Prize winners includes Yimon Aye (), Juan Cubillos-Ruiz (Weill Cornell Medicine), Mikala Egeblad (), Daniel Heller (), Eirini Papapetrou (), and Richard White (Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center).
