$20 Million Pledged to Vanderbilt for Residential College, Engineering

has announced a $20 million commitment from board chair and alumnus Bruce R. Evans (BE'81) and his wife, Bridgitt.

The gift will support undergraduate living-learning communities on campus and establish the Bruce and Bridgitt Evans Dean's Chair in Engineering at the , enabling the dean of the school to pursue important initiatives that support its success. The gift also includes an unrestricted bequest for future use.

The Evans family's previous gifts have helped support undergraduate scholarships and leadership positions in the and the , the university's innovation hub. Bruce Evans, who attended Vanderbilt on a scholarship and later earned his MBA from Harvard Business School, is board chair of Summit Partners, a global alternative investment firm. Bridgitt Evans is co-founder and president of , a nonprofit that supports the contemporary visual arts.

"As a former Vanderbilt scholarship student myself, I know the transformative power a scholarship can have on one's life," said Bruce Evans. "We share Vanderbilt's vision that access to a high-quality, immersive education must be within reach for every hard-working student."
