Job Summary

The University of Houston, University Advancement is currently recruiting for two Sr. Director Advancement positions to add to our bold and aspirational team.  We are looking for experienced and confident leaders. One will serve the Cullen College of Engineering and the other will serve the Bauer College of Business. The progressive fundraiser possesses expertise regarding personal solicitation and fundraising overall, as well as a basic knowledge of planned giving. The Sr. Director Advancement identifies, cultivates and solicits prospects while providing stewardship to current donors; works with faculty, staff, and volunteers as appropriate. This position requires strong entrepreneurial skills to leverage a small donor base and build new relationships in undeveloped markets. This position will serve as the lead for fundraising and discovery work with prospective supporters in a designated college, work closely with volunteer leaders to follow-up on contacts and leads for philanthropic support, partner with Corporate and Foundation Relations and the Office of Gift Planning to identify potential donors.

Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for meeting annual personal fundraising goals. This position manages a portfolio of prospects which are mostly at the level of $25,000 to $1,000,000. The Development Officer creates compelling proposals to donors that effectively make the case for support, and provides guidance to their designated college on personal solicitation of annual and major gifts, and other development and fundraising matters. The fundraising professional will also support prospect engagement and involvement efforts related to cultivation and fundraising events. The successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree and have a minimum of three years of development experience in higher education. The successful candidate will possess:

  • Experience in a comprehensive campaign environment
  • The ability to work with a diverse donor base including range of giving
  • Ability to collaborate with and provide superior customer service to donors, colleagues and leadership
  • Skills in managing multiple high priorities, individually and for a team, with great attention to detail and execution
