The Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut (CGC) is a renowned non-profit children's mental health agency that serves children ages birth through 18 who experience mental health challenges that interfere with their daily lives. We are seeking a creative and dynamic Director of Development with experience leading all aspects of fundraising, who brings an excitement about our unique programs and values the work we do in our community.
- Plan and implement all fundraising activities, supervising a part-time Communications Manager and a grant-writing consultant
- Develop annual and long-range fundraising and communication plans in collaboration with the CEO
- Research, cultivate, and directly solicit individual and major gifts donors and corporate sponsors, working with the CEO and Board to strategize and manage relationships
- Take a proactive and creative leadership role in the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and tracking of corporate and foundation grants, and support other leaders with government grants
- Serve as a positive and engaging representative of CGC in the community, with a focus on building close working relationships with the region's philanthropic community, individual and corporate donors, sponsors, Board members, and volunteers
- Coordinate the donor experience at CGC events in collaboration with development and production staff
- Provide detailed, accurate, and timely reports on fundraising activity to the CEO and Board
- Manage the development department in a fiscally sound manner by ensuring that the appropriate systems, staffing, and procedures are in place to support fundraising goals
- Oversee all branding, advertising, and communications
As the incoming Director of Development, you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications:
- You are hard-working, organized, and detail-oriented, with at least 5 years of professional experience in non-profit fundraising roles, with past success in managing a multi-faceted fundraising program
- You demonstrate a strong connection to the mission and vision of CGC, with a passion for supporting children's mental health
- You bring experience working across all aspects of development, with prior success crafting and implementing comprehensive development plans; ideally, this will include experience creating and executing special events, planned giving programs, and communication, branding, and marketing plans
- You have excellent interpersonal and oral and written communications skills, and you have successfully built relationships with individuals giving gifts of $10,000 or more as well as corporate sponsors and foundation supporters
- You are excited by the opportunity to act as an external representative of CGC and to share our work with new audiences
- You are fluent in standard software applications and donor management software and familiar with non-profit accounting rules and procedures, and you are comfortable working in a data-driven environment
- You thrive as part of a collaborative, positive, and flexible small team, and you seek out opportunities to take initiative and implement new strategies
- You hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- You hold a valid driver's license, auto insurance, and reliable access to a car, and are able to work outside of traditional office hours as needed to manage events and cultivate donor relationships
