Incorporated in 1986, West Hollywood Housing Corporation (WHCHC) is a nonprofit community development organization. WHCHC’s mission is to develop safe, decent and affordable housing for people with limited income, including those with special needs, which enhances the community and supports economic diversity.
Since starting operations, WHCHC has developed 17 apartment communities with 530 units, which provide stable high quality living environments to approximately 800 limited-income people living in the Cities of West Hollywood, Glendale and Los Angeles. The current development pipeline includes one special needs project in construction, one permanent supportive housing project starting construction in the first quarter of 2018, one senior project due to start construction in the second quarter of 2018, one family project due to start construction in 2019 and two new projects which are in the process of being defined but for which the land has been secured. These projects are located in the cities of West Hollywood and Los Angeles and will result in the production of 231+ new apartments for approximately 350 extremely, very and low income people.
WHCHC operates with a $2.8 million budget, a staff of 18 and a 15-person board of directors. Corporate revenues are generated through real estate development and management fees, contracts with public agencies and philanthropic grants and donations. In addition to the corporation itself, WHCHC is the managing general partner in 18 separate limited partnerships and WHCHC owns two projects that are not in partnerships.
After 12 growth driven years, the current President & Executive Director (E.D.) has decided to retire and prepare the organization for succession and new leadership.

In partnership with the Board of Directors, the E.D. will lead the corporation’s future growth and development while forging creative approaches to future financing structures, new partnerships and innovative services.
Reporting to and working with the Board of Directors, the E.D. will have an opportunity to lead a management team to develop and implement projects, programs and plans in support of WHCHC’s vision and mission. The current management team members include a Director of Property & Asset Management, Director of Real Estate Development, Director of Resident Services, Director of External Affairs (July, 2018), and Controller.
Lead the organization with vision and direction as part of implementing the corporation’s mission, values and programs guided by WHCHC’s strategic plan.
Directly oversee and administer the day-to-day work of the corporation, including: real estate development, asset/property management, administration (accounting and finance, human resources, office management, information technology), resident services, resource development and public relations.
The successful candidate will be an experienced professional with the ability to expand, elevate and enhance WHCHC’s profile with business, media, public sector leaders, foundations and the public; cultivate and promote understanding of the WHCHC’s role in providing unique services; assist in developing a diverse base of donors; and deepen WHCHC's presence and impact in advocacy efforts. An understanding of affordable housing development and finance is desirable.
Minimum Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, Master’s Degree in planning, business or, real estate preferred.
The compensation for the position is open, within an established range, depending on qualifications and experience. A benefits package is provided.
