According to the report, violence kills more than 1.6 million people every year, and public health experts say these statistics are just the tip of the iceberg, with the majority of violent acts committed behind closed doors and going largely unreported. In addition to violent acts that result in death, the report sheds light on the millions of people left injured or suffering from physical, sexual, reproductive, and mental health problems as a result of violence.
