Between 2013-14 and 2015-16, total global funding for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex communities increased $100 million, or 23 percent, a report from finds. Based on more than 12,000 grants awarded by 511 foundations, intermediaries, and corporations and fifteen government and multilateral agencies, the (96 pages, PDF) found that grant dollars in support of LGBTQ issues totaled more than $275 million in 2015 and $119 million 2016, up from nearly $182 million in 2013 and $111 million in 2014, while the number of grants jumped 35 percent. The analysis also found that the share of grant dollars awarded by private foundations to LGBTQ organizations fell from 11 percent ($59 million) in 2013-14 to 17 percent ($48.5 million) in 2015-16, while that of public foundations and intermediaries doubled, from 13 percent ($30 million) to 26 percent ($72.6 million). The top five foundation funders of LGBTQ issues im 2015-16 were the , , and the , , and  foundations.
